The United States has far-reaching plans to refurbish the Thule base in Greenland. It appears from a censored American report that the Danish newspaper Berlingske read.
According to the report, the United States will earmark a number of billions of dollars in the Arctic, including the military air base on Greenland’s northwest coast.
According to the agreements written between the USA, Greenland and Denmark, the countries must consult each other in the event of significant changes in their military investments in Greenland – but Greenland says it has not heard anything about the plans.
– We do not have that. It is our country so we would like to know if anything happens, says Pipaluk Lynge Rasmussen, chairman of the foreign policy committee in Greenland’s parliament and member of the governing party IA to Berlingske.
