Russia ends gas flow to Finland

Russia has stopped natural gas flow to Finland.

Russian gas company Gazprom announced that gas shipments have been stopped as of 04:00 today.

Finland, on the other hand, stated that this will not affect consumers.

Helsinki refused to make gas payments in rubles, as Russia wanted.

Russia’s decision followed Finland’s application to NATO.

After the Western sanctions against Russia, Moscow demanded that “unfriendly countries” make gas payments in rubles.

Gasgrid Finland, the state-owned gas company in Finland, announced that it will meet the demand with liquefied natural gas.

Answering questions on the subject, a Kremlin spokesman said, “No one sells a product without getting paid for it.”

Russia also stopped selling electricity to Finland last week.

On the other hand, a change took place in the board of directors of the Russian state-owned company Rosneft.

Rosneft announced on Friday that Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder is leaving the board of directors.

Social democrat politician Schroeder was criticized in his country for this position where he received a high salary.

Schroeder also avoided openly criticizing Russian President Vladimir Putin, whom he described as a close friend.
