President Niinistö says that Finland condemns terrorism in all its forms.

President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has discussed the President of Finland Sauli Niinistö and the Prime Minister of Sweden Magdalena Anderssonin with.
According to a press release issued by the Office of the President of the Republic, the discussion focused on Finland’s NATO membership, security in the Euro-Atlantic area and the fight against terrorism.
Niinistö emphasized to Erdoğan that Finland condemns terrorism in all its forms.
Niinistö also told Erdoğan that, as NATO allies, Finland and Turkey are committed to each other’s security, which will strengthen the countries’ bilateral relationship.
Erdoğan had replied to Niinistö that ignoring terrorist organizations was not appropriate for NATO membership.
According to Niinistö, the discussion of the presidents was open and direct. Close contact continues, Niinistö says in his suite.
Prime Minister Anderson had been told by Erdoğan that Sweden’s support for terrorist organizations must be stopped. This is what Turkey wants to do.
Turkey also wants the arms embargo on Turkey to be lifted. The arms embargo was imposed in 2019 after Turkey had occupied parts of Syria.
Turkey opposes the accession of Finland and Sweden to NATO.
