Not everyone has an air conditioner at home. Here are 10 tips to effectively fight the heat this summer.

True, the fan does not manufactureair cold as a air conditionerbut facilitating the evacuation of the air humidified by the sweat, it creates a feeling of freshness. To further enhance its effectiveness, adopt these few tips.

Hang a wet sheet in front of the fan

When water evaporates, it picks up heat ambient. A fan will therefore diffuse cooler air when a damp sheet or towel is spread in front. Another variant: place a bottle of water from the freezer or a bucket filled with ice cubes in front the fan.

Change the direction of your ceiling fan

Most of ceiling fans are now equipped with a summer position or winter (the latter then serving to distribute the heat diffused by the radiators). If not, make sure the blades rotate counter-clockwise to suck in thehot air to the top. Also, the fan should run at speed fast enough to guarantee a refreshing effect.

Choose the right fan power

A pedestal fan, with a power of 20 m3/min, is enough for one person. To cool an entire room (between 20 m2 and 30m2), prefer a pedestal fan or a column fan, with a minimum power of 100 to 150 m3/min.

Opt for a misting fan

Equipped with a water tank, the misting fan can provide a temperature drop of up to 6°C thanks to the diffusion fine water droplets that cool the surrounding air by evaporating. Please note: the room must not be closed because moisture accumulates there. The system only works in well-ventilated places and loses its effectiveness when theatmosphere is already wet.

Create a permanent airflow

Judiciously placing fans in your home creates a continuous air renewal. Install a fan in front of the window or door to exhaust hot air and another on the opposite side of the room. This system avoids constantly stirring the same hot air around you.
