94% on Steam, 96 points on Metacritic – A milestone shooter is now available for €5

It’s been 16 years since Bioshock cleaned up the shooter genre. Bioshock Remastered is currently 75% cheaper for only 5 euros on the GOG platform.

Why is Bioshock considered a milestone? The shooter has managed like no other of its time to combine atmosphere, environmental storytelling and a strong story into an exciting adventure. 96 points on Metacritic speak for themselves (via metacritic.com).

Even now, Bioshock still inspires its players, even if the innovative ideas of the time don’t really blow our minds today.

However, if you like a good story, enjoy a sizzling atmosphere and like to get a little scared, then grab it. If you haven’t played Bioshock yet, the shooter is now available for 5 on GOG.

What are players saying about Bioshock? Since its release, more than 22,000 user reviews have been collected on Steam and most of them agree: 94% of the reviews give the title a thumbs up (via Steam).

Here are a few appropriate reviews of the game, with pros and cons:

  • ¡ Shulia on Steam: “BioShock is widely recognized as a game-changing title in the gaming industry, offering an immersive narrative, a unique setting, engaging gameplay mechanics, and thought-provoking themes.”
  • User ¡ Shulia also addressed the weaknesses: The fights can feel repetitive after a while, the level design is too linear by today’s standards, the stealth gameplay is a bit too simplistic. But the many details and all the storytelling make up for it:

  • Camdonius on Steam: “One of the best games I’ve ever played! The atmosphere and environmental storytelling are fantastic. Audio logs deliver emotionally charged narratives. The levels are rich in design and full of details.”
  • However, Camdonius complained that there were occasional crashes. Overall, however, it is a unique and exciting experience that even gives you a few sequels if you want more.

How much playing time can you expect? According to the “HowLongToBeat” site, the campaign takes around 12 hours if you don’t let yourself be distracted (via howlongtobeat.com). It can also be 15 hours if you take side quests with you.
