Ambitious emissions target
The goal of the Paris Games organizers was to halve the emissions from the previous Summer Olympics. 95 percent of the venues were already ready or were being built temporarily. The only facilities built for the Games, such as the swimming center and the Games Village, were built in the northeastern parts of Paris and in the Saint-Denis area, where such sports and residential infrastructure was needed.
In addition to sports equipment, the organizers have sorted the accessories, furniture and technical equipment used in the games in order to maximize their further use. The goods are distributed to the most needy through charity and relief organizations.
For example, about 50,000 pieces of furniture, 9,000 mattresses and 11,000 pillows are donated from Kisakylä through the Emmaus shop.
