Anyone can be a drag queen – even your grandmother. We got proof of that when 87-year-old Gerd Nilsson from Osby was photographed with make-up, wig and dress. The photography is part of grandson Matthias Lavesson’s photo project. – It was great to be a part of it. It’s great fun to have been part of this, says Gerd. The project created by Matthias Lavesson is about spreading more knowledge and tolerance around drag culture. – I felt that society is quite cold, and that we need more love, and came up with an idea to create a love project that spreads love, acceptance, respect and joy, he says. Among other things, Matthias Lavesson was able to join grandmother Gerd and his friend Niklas Palmklint, who is a photographer, on the train. The styling with hair and make-up has been done by none other than the drag star “Admira Thunderpussy” who is in SVT Drag Race Sweden which is going on right now. Last Thursday, the photographs were exhibited at an opening in Stockholm. Photo: Niklas Palmklint. Watch Gerd and Mattias tell more in the player above.
