We often tend to perceive health as something binary. One is either ill or in good health, as if being ill could only be justified by the fact of being touched by a serious illness. However, this is not necessarily the case, as the results of this survey show.

Commissioned by the pharmaceutical company Perrigo, the survey was carried out by the English polling institute One Poll. According to the results, in general, adults, while claiming to be in good health, suffer on average from four minor ailments. It can be back pain, headaches or even seasonal allergies…

Three out of four adults affected

To arrive at these results, a survey was conducted among 2,000 people, questioned about their daily health problems. In total, 82% of adults therefore have a minor health problem and 59% even suffer from it, due to the discomfort or significant pain that it causes them.

    Troubles that last

The survey also reveals that in addition, the respondents have been suffering from ailments for several years, with an impact on their sleep in almost one out of two cases, and even an inability to work for 18% of them. Moreover, in seven cases out of ten, the survey shows that the person adapts and will continue to work.

Unfortunately, for 28% surveyed, this situation sometimes comes from the fact that “their doctor does not seem interested” in the problem raised. The same proportion say they cannot even get an appointment with their doctor and 22% simply do not want to go see a doctor.

    The pharmacist, local specialist

For minor ailments, if consultation with a doctor is not possible, it is always recommended to take advice from your pharmacist. An easily accessible health specialist, the pharmacist can give you specialized advice, advise you on a treatment without a prescription or redirect you to a doctor or any other paramedical health specialist, who can treat you.
