The prosecutor today called the attack another targeted attack on the free press, “fitting a pattern of violence against journalists and media” and “undermining democratic society”. In 2019, the judge ruled that it cannot be proven that the shooting was an attack on press freedom. The three men therefore received lower prison sentences than the Public Prosecution Service had demanded at the time: Z. four years in prison, the other two three years.
