Another local death has been attributed to COVID-19, Chatham-Kent public health reported in its Friday update
A total of 70 people have now died in Chatham-Kent from the virus since the pandemic began in March 2020.
A total of 73 new cases of COVID-19 were also reported since the last update on Wednesday, with the rolling average number of cases per day over the last seven days sitting at 38. There have been 8,276 confirmed cases of the virus in Chatham- Kent.
The health unit is also reporting 13 people hospitalized at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance with active COVID-19 cases.
No new outbreaks were reported Friday, but eight outbreaks remain active in the community.
There were 2,760 new COVID cases reported across Ontario on Friday and 1,679 people hospitalized, including 209 patients in intensive care units with COVID-related illness.
