Seven years ago, Travis Fimmel left the hit series Vikings and ditched the iconic main character Ragnar Lodbrok. Boy Swallows Universe is set in Brisbane, Australia in 1983. The coming-of-age story focuses on 11-year-old Eli Bell (Felix Cameron) and his view of the adults in his life. He watches alongside his drug-addicted mother and his absent father Lyle (Travis Fimmel), the new stepfather.
Lyle and Eli’s mother try to make ends meet by dealing drugs. When Lyle recklessly gets involved with a drug cartel and disappears, everything changes for the family.

Travis Fimmel is once again more than ambivalent father figure, loving husband and charismatic criminal to see who takes on the big shots on his own initiative. He once again plays an ambiguous role in which ruthlessness and a sense of family go hand in hand.
The most important question for 11-year-old Eli in Boy Swallows Universe is what makes a good person. He asks them to everyone around him. For Lyle and all of Travis Fimmel’s other characters, that’s a difficult question to answer – but that’s ultimately what makes his roles so exciting.
