It is a spin-off series from Z Nation. While the latter comes with a large portion of humor and creative ways to kill zombies, Black Summer is more serious in tone and therefore a little closer to The Walking Dead.
Black Summer tells the beginnings of a zombie apocalypse in the city of Denver. There is fear and panic among the population and people are trying to get one of the contested places on one of the military trucks that will take them to safety. In the chaos, mother Rose is separated from her daughter and tries everything to see her again.
