These TNG characters are not included

We’ll see Tasha Yar, but I won’t say how.” With these words, Denise Crosby caused a lot of confusion at a Star Trek convention in the summer of 2022. Her character Tasha Yar already died in the first season of The Next Generation, but returned several times thanks to some sci-fi tricks. Crosby also played Tasha’s daughter Sela. In SFX Magazine (via CBR), however, Terry Matalas clarifies: “There’s definitely a nod to Tasha Yar. But it doesn’t go beyond that“. It will not be more than a photo or an archive recording.

A return of performers Colm Meaney and Diana Muldaur has also been ruled out. Meaney impersonated the character in The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine Miles O’Brien. Muldaur was only in TNG Season 2 as the ship’s doctor Catherine Pulaski to be seen as a stand-in for Beverly Crusher.

The Picard showrunner also rejected the return of those known from Voyager Captain Janeway (Kate Mulgrew), who is currently appearing in the animated series Star Trek: Prodigy. Taking to Twitter, Matalas dashed any hopes of a Janeway-Seven of Nine reunion.
