We at MeinMMO are looking at which survival games will be released in 2022 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S or PC. Watch these upcoming games if you’re into survival, horror, or that extra special kick.
In this list, we’ll take a look at various survival genres slated for release in 2022. It includes multiplayer games for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S as well as exclusive titles and single-player games.
The selection is a personal assessment of the author, with promising titles or survival games with special ideas. You may also find one or the other insider tip here that you would not otherwise have on the screen.
Where the games will ultimately line up can only be finally said after their release. Until then you will find the best survival games 2022 for PlayStation, Xbox and PC here on MeinMMO.

Hot Tip: Completely surprisingly, Blizzard, the developer of World of Warcraft, announced its own survival game in January. We can’t say exactly when that will appear, but the development is said to be well advanced. Maybe a beta will come in 2022:

ARC 2

This is ARC 2: ARK 2 continues ARK: Survival Evolved. So far, not too much is known about the game, but the gameplay and content will probably differ little from its predecessor.
The core feature of ARK are various dinosaurs that you can tame and train as farm animals. They serve as workers, mounts or even to build your base on them.
ARK is a survival game in the classic sense. You start almost naked, have to laboriously assemble your equipment and progress further and further. On your journey through the world you uncover secrets and backgrounds and at some point you even reach the point where you can fight with futuristic weapons and armor.
According to the first pictures, ARK 2 will be based heavily on the first part. The first dinosaurs could already be seen and the world also looks quite similar to the jungle-like biomes of the first part.
Survival is so hard Basically you have to pay attention to water, food and your life energy. At least your needs can be easily satisfied with a little search, but you should prepare yourself well for fights.
Especially for encounters with big dinosaurs or bosses you need the right equipment or support in the form of tamed dinosaurs.
A clan offers protection above all. You can play ARK with friends, build up a base and a defense. You always go there when you need a rest.

What we expect from the game:
When and where is the release? A specific date for ARK 2 is still missing, but the game should be released in 2022. ARK 2 is coming to PC and Xbox Series X|S. A release for PS4, PS5 and Xbox One is not planned for the time being.

STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl

This is STALKER 2: The latest part of the famous STALKER series. You are in Chernobyl, a few years after the disaster, after another disaster has created strange anomalies. Flora and fauna have mutated, Pripyat is an absolute military exclusion zone.
You still wander through the area as a stalker and look for particularly valuable “artifacts”, strange things that are created by the anomalies. Radiation and mutants are constant dangers that you have to defy.
Gameplay-wise, STALKER 2 is a first-person shooter with strong elements of survival, horror, and RPGs. There was first gameplay at E3 2021. You have over 30 weapons with customizations at your disposal. In a non-linear story in which you meet different factions, you should decide the fate of the exclusion zone.
Survival is so hard There is no concrete information about STALKER 2 yet, but mistakes and careless actions in the other parts of the series were usually severely punished. There probably won’t be any survival mechanics like eating and drinking or base building, but anomalies and enemies are a constant threat.
Since STALKER is an RPG at its core, you probably won’t encounter impossible challenges. Fun and story have always been the focus, and that’s probably how it will be in STALKER 2 as well. So even survival beginners will be happy here, even if they don’t know the other parts of the series.
What we expect from the game:
When and where is the release: STALKER 2 is scheduled for release on December 8th, 2022 for PC and Xbox as a Microsoft Exclusive. It should also be released in the Xbox Game Pass. Rumor has it that the exclusivity will only last for 3 months.
Fans have been waiting for the second part for ages. STALKER 2 was already announced in 2010 and should appear in 2012. However, there were problems, the studio has even dissolved in the meantime and only after a lot of back and forth is the game finally supposed to be released.
STALKER is a phenomenon in itself and has inspired countless players worldwide. The franchise has even inspired many games, often fan-made:
Sons of the Forest
Developer/Publisher: End Night Games | release: October 2022 | Model: Buy2Play | Platforms: PC | Player: Single player with optional co-op
This is Sons of the Forest: The survival game is the sequel to The Forest, released in 2018. It was announced at the end of 2019 and since then it has been rather quiet about the new game, at least until a new trailer suddenly appeared at the end of 2020.
The first trailer shows a special unit flying in a helicopter with the mission to kill “demons”. However, they are attacked by monsters and crash.
The second trailer then shows more gameplay and you can see how well-known mutants and cannibals from the first part are fought, sometimes with new firearms. In addition, there is apparently a friendly mutant who acts as an ally. There is no concrete information about the story yet.
Survival is so hard So far there is no more detailed information about Sons of the Forest. However, as a sequel to The Forest, it will probably be based heavily on its gameplay.
Eating and drinking would then be necessities, but the real danger would come from the island’s creatures. The forest is full of mutants, few of whom are friendly to you – if any don’t look directly at you as food.
What we expect from the game:

Nightingale

This is Nightingale: Nightingale is set in a Victorian fantasy setting known as gaslight fantasy. It is developed by Inflexion Games, veterans of legendary RPG studio BioWare.
You play a world wanderer who travels to different worlds in search of a new home for the people. Because a magical catastrophe threatens to destroy their old home.
However, these new worlds are already inhabited by wondrous fae creatures that are not necessarily friendly to you. You should be able to defend yourself with various tools and weapons in order to build an outpost for humanity.
Survival is so hard We don’t yet know whether there will be classic survival elements such as hunger and thirst. However, since you can grow fruits and vegetables, this speaks for such mechanics.
Crafting and construction also play a major role. You can build your own houses and settlements, cultivate fields and set up defense lines against the fae together with other players. Nightingale also features different biomes such as forests, swamps and deserts.
You wander through different, increasingly dangerous worlds. Accordingly, the biggest survival factor will probably be the opponents you have to defend yourself against.
What we expect from the game:
When and where is the release? According to Steam, Nightingale will be released in the fourth quarter of 2022. That would be between October and December. If you want to check out the game, you can register for playtests on the official site.
