Guardians in Destiny 2 battle the enemies of mankind and acquire increasingly powerful gear to face a variety of challenges. But be careful, because not everything that the dealers offer in the game is worth buying.
Destiny 2 has a variety of NPC vendors where Wardens can purchase weapons, armor, shaders, and other items to equip their characters.
You might think that the offers that are being made are all good. But be careful. Not every item that you can buy in Destiny 2 is worth your material.
Destiny 2 automatically rewards players with a variety of items as you play. Therefore, it is smart to find out which items are really worth buying from merchants and which are not.
Here we list the items that you should better keep your hands off, as you can often unlock them for free.
1st Alloy of Ascendancy from Master Rahool
Ascendancy Alloy is used in weapon sculpting in Destiny 2 to enhance attributes. So if you keep building weapons, you need this material regularly. But sometimes it’s not quite enough and you quickly buy one from Master Rahool in the tower so that you can build a weapon.
However, that is exactly what you should not do. The Ascendancy Alloy at Master Rahool is far too expensive, which is easily overlooked.
Too much if you consider that on average you would have to disassemble 120-150 weapons to get this amount together.
It is better to earn the Ascendancy Alloy. For example, the Twilights or the Lightfall campaigns offer missions on higher levels of difficulty the option of this material.
2. Master Rahool’s Enhancement Prisms and Cores
In addition to the ascendant fragments, the improvement prisms are a rare and valuable item in Destiny 2. The improvement cores are just as important. Some swim in them, but others have to laboriously save up to upgrade equipment for endgame content to masterpieces.
So it’s tempting to buy them from Master Rahool on the tower.
Don’t be fooled by the offers here either. Enhancement Prisms and Cores can be obtained much faster and for a small investment of time for free. For example, via rank increases in the playlists, conveniently from the season pass or from twilight.
3. Glimmer vs. Ever Here Pieces by Master Rahool
The maximum Glimmer you can own in Destiny 2 is currently 250,000. But you quickly notice: If you create a lot of masterpieces, buy bounties, shape weapons or treat yourself to a new exotic at the Monument to the Lost Lights, then this sum is quickly gone again.
So if you’re short on cash, it’s tempting to stop by Master Rahool and buy the Glimmer there so you can maybe take all the bounties with you at the tower stop.
If you have enough Legendary Shards, you can do that. But you should really only sacrifice an Everhere Piece if you have enough of those Rare Drops. Because you need them on Europa to buy bounties from Variks for the “Beyond Light” weapons there, like the “Arctic Haze” auto rifle or the “Sub Zero Volley” rocket launcher. They cost you 30 Ever Here Pieces each.
Since Season 19, however, getting hold of Glimmer has become much easier as Bungie has enabled the Glimmer Boost for it.
So next time you’re short on cash, take a moment, hop out of your Sparrow and help other fellow Wardens get some of that pretty shiny Glimmer for yourself instead of buying it expensively.

4. Glimmer and Legendary Engrams at Star Horse
Don’t be fooled by Xur’s glittering Star Horse offer in Eternity either. Here, too, a few offers are pure usury.
Apparently, the Star Horse not only likes Sugar Cubes, but also Strange Coins. It sells the players two usurious offers to get this valuable item from them.
So be warned: none of these offers make sense and are a waste of your Strange Coins. In particular, the Legendary Engram is absolutely not worth this edition. You get this for free in the open world at every public event.
It is better to buy the paraversal chunks. Because they usually drop more and better items, so this investment is more worthwhile.
