Darin broke through as a 16-year-old
Darin Zanyar was only 16 years old when he appeared on Idol in 2004 and became a viewer favorite immediately.
He has previously told about the turbulent time when fans flocked outside his parents’ home and made it difficult for him to stay outside.
His journey would later take him to Melodifestivalen 2010 where he went straight to the final with the song “You’re Out Of My Life” where he finished in fourth place.

Måns Zelmerlöw has been featured three times as an artist
Måns Zelmerlöw became known to the Swedish people when he was part of Idol 2005. He has since participated in Mello as a singer and presenter.
His first participation in the competition was in 2007 with the song “Cara mia” which finished in third place in the final.
After that, it took two years before he then entered Melodifestivalen 2009 with the song “Hope & glory”, which ended in fourth place.
It was the third time liked in 2015 when he performed with the song “Heroes” which took home the entire competition. It was lucky that he stood up that year because when he took part in the Eurovision Song Contest the following year, he won the entire competition there as well, then with the third highest number of points in the competition’s history.
In 2021, he was one of three presenters, along with Shima Niavarani and Christer Björkman.

Amanda Fondell won Idol and left Mello
Amanda Fondell was on Idol 2011 and won the entire competition. After that, it only took two years before she participated in Melodifestivalen 2013 with the song “Dumb”. However, she was eliminated in the sub-competition and the song did not make it onto any charts. After that, the singer with the peculiar voice has continued to make music.

Robin Stjernberg won Mello after the “second chance”
Robin Stjernberg participated in Idol 2011 where he finished in second place, after the aforementioned Amanda Fondell.
His participation in Mello came when in Melodifestivalen 2013 he sang the song “You” which made it to the “second chance”, corresponding to today’s semi-finals, and from there to the final. Once there, Robin Stjernberg managed against all odds to win the entire competition, which was the first time a participant went from the second chance to the final and won. A feat no one, before or since, has managed.

Robin Bengtsson’s recurring successes in Mello
Robin Bengtsson came in third place when he participated in Idol 2008. After that he continued to make music, write and produce for himself and others before in 2016 he entered the Melodifestivalen for the first time with the song “Constellation prize” which finished in fifth place.
The following year, he participated in Melodifestivalen 2017 and was one of the favorites to win the entire competition with the song “I can’t go on”. Robin Bengtsson handled the pressure and won. In the Eurovision Song Contest he ended up in fifth place.
He has since participated two more times, in 2020 and 2022. He has made it to the final on both occasions and thus has a fine streak of four participations and four final places, each with a win.

Loreen became a superstar after Mello
Lorine Talhaouior Loreen as she is better known as, was already in Idol the first year the competition was broadcast in Sweden, namely in 2004. There she ended up in fourth place.
Her first participation in the Melodifestivalen came in 2011 when she participated with the song “My heart is refusing me”, with which she made it to the “second chance” where she was eliminated.
The big international breakthrough came already the following year. In 2012, she was once again in Mello with the song “Euphoria”, which won not only the Swedish competition but also the Eurovision Song Contest. The song quickly became a super hit and has been number one on the charts in 16 countries.
Loreen’s third participation in Mello became a fact when she went directly to the final of Melodifestivalen 2023 with the song “Tattoo”.

Hanna Ferm came second in Idol 2017 after she was defeated by Chris Klafford who made great success in the program.
Hanna then became successful in Mello when she participated in the competition in 2019 together with another former Idol participant and winner, Liamoo. They finished third with the song “Hold You”.
The following year, in Melodifestivalen 2020, she entered the competition again. This time as a solo artist with the song “Brave” which finished in fourth place.
She has had several songs on the top charts, including the song “Brave” but also the super hit “Forever” which was released in 2021.
