66 soldiers held by peasants in Colombia released

For three days, 66 soldiers were held in the rural area of San José del Guaviare, surrounded by hundreds of farmers. The latter were probably influenced by a dissident faction of the former FARC guerrillas. Since the signing of the peace agreement with the FARC in 2016, the armed forces have often clashed with farmers, particularly during operations to eradicate coca crops, the leaves of which are used for the production of cocaine.
