62 million invested to be able to drive the electric locomotive to the port of Gävle

There are 12 freight trains per day between the freight station and the port of Gävle. Previously, you had to change the locomotive to a diesel locomotive at the freight railway yard in order to take the freight trains to the port.

But as of this weekend, the freight trains could roll all the way with their electric locomotives out to the port since the reconstruction and electrification of the 2-kilometer stretch was completed at a price tag of over SEK 62 million.

Hear the Swedish Transport Agency’s project manager Stefan Sunnesjö explain in the video what the reconstruction means.
