A train has run into a reindeer herd that was on a railway embankment near Kåbdalis, which is located between Arvidsjaur and Jokkmokk.
The incident occurred on Saturday and 61 animals died in the accident, reports Swedish Radio’s Sameradion.
Rune Stokke, chairman of Udtja Sami village, tells the radio channel that they issued a reindeer warning and that accidents have occurred at the same place before.
