6 things you should do to prepare for Day One in The Final Shape

The day one raid in Destiny 2: The Final Shape starts tomorrow, June 7, 2024, for all players who own the DLC. Anyone who is interested needs to prepare for the difficult raid race. We’ll show you 6 things you should do before you start the contest mode of the Edge of Salvation raid.

Why do I need to prepare? As with every new raid, Bungie activates a contest mode for the first 48 hours. This contest mode will also be active in the new raid “Edge of Salvation” from The Final Shape. The mode makes the raid tougher and more strenuous. Enemies appear in greater numbers, become bullet sponges and also deal absurdly high damage.

For this reason, we have selected six things that you should do so that you are prepared for contest mode.

You are welcome to add further points, tips or things in the comments and discuss them with other Guardians. You can use our small directory to jump to the respective points.

Build strong builds for your loadouts

Why are loadouts with builds important? Contest mode is all about time. The faster you can change your builds for each situation, the better your chances of taking home the raid belt. It’s important to be prepared for every situation.

The Final Shape also introduced new enemy and shield types that could cause you problems. So make sure you have also unlocked the new sub-class “Prismatic”.

Prepare your other classes

What do you mean with that? Each team goes into the raid with a selection of classes to provide a good balance of support, DPS and crowd control. However, there may be encounters in contest mode that your current lineup cannot handle, so it is important to switch to a different class in an emergency to be able to offer more healing or buffs.

If you lack this flexibility, you may end up spending several minutes, if not hours, on an encounter, wasting unnecessary time.

Reached power level 1965

Why is the 1965 power level so important? As with every Day One, Bungie specifies a required power level that players must reach in order to be eligible to raid. For the Edge of Salvation raid, the required power level is 1965. If you don’t reach this level, you won’t be able to do any damage to your opponents and will be killed with one shot. So make sure you have the required power level.

Find the new Exos from The Final Shape

Why are the new Exos important? New exotic items have one thing in common – they are either too weak or far too strong. So it can’t hurt to have the new exotics ready for all classes so that you can benefit from them in the raid. The new Warlock helmet “Speaker’s Sight” turns your grenades into healing weapons that you can throw around.

The Dangerous Drive titanium chest armor, on the other hand, generates up to six homing missiles and also increases the damage of other missiles you launch. You can also fall back on your old Exos, but it doesn’t hurt to have alternatives on hand.

You will definitely get one copy of the Exos after completing the legendary campaign, while the rest can be decoded by Rahool – provided you have leveled up with him.

Complete the Exo mission “Wild Card” and the campaign

Why is that important? The Exo mission gives you the exotic sniper “Never-Ending Hunt” while the campaign increases your power level. The real reason, however, lies in the story.

Anyone who has been following Destiny for 10 years will certainly want to know how the Light and Darkness saga ends. That’s why it’s important to understand the connections. For this reason, Bungie itself recommends that you have completed both of these things before tackling the raid.

Looking for an alternative to the Fountain of Light

Why is an alternative for the well important? The Well of Light was the ultimate that Warlocks always took with them in a raid. Even though the damage buff was inferior to that of the Titan’s Bubble, the Well offered far too powerful a health recovery and damage resistance. With “The Final Shape” that changed.

After many years of dominance, Bungie finally had to intervene and the fountain became a shadow of its former self. It heals you less and also offers worse resistance to bosses and normal enemies.

It is therefore important to find an alternative for boss fights in which you can heal your mates and support them with buffs. The Titan looks like a good replacement. With its Void or Strand focus, it offers strong options for buffing or healing your team.

These were all the important things we recommend you do before you tackle the day-one raid from “The Final Shape”. Did you know that a new grenade launcher could compete with the Drought Collector?
