6 seconds in the grand finale of Avengers caused shitstorms

A scene in the grand finale of Avengers 4: Engame caused discussion and many negative reactions from viewers at the time. However, one Marvel director wanted more of just that.

What scene is it about? In the grand finale of Avengers: Endgame, the heroes fight together against the villain Thanos and his host of aliens.

There is a scene where the heroines of the group gather and work together to save Thanos’ Infinity Gauntlet from the enemies.

The moment polarized audiences. While some celebrated the scene as a great staging of women’s power, others criticized it as hypocritical.

The director had mixed feelings upon seeing the scene

Director Nia DaCosta, who is working on the upcoming movie The Marvels, talks about the heroine scene in Avengers: Endgame in a video from Entertainment Weekly.

When she saw the brief moment when the women gathered, she was gripped on the one hand, but also felt a negative emotion.

She shares, “I watched Avengers: Endgame, like a lot of women around the world, and there was this six seconds of all the Marvel women together. I had goosebumps, but I was also very annoyed.”

DaCosta explains where the annoyance came from: “I was like: Two hours of this, please”

Now, in a way, The Marvels is fulfilling DaCosta’s wish: “It was really nice that they decided to do a team-up movie with three of my favorite heroines. And that was the most exciting thing.”

Directed by Nia DaCosta, The Marvels centers on the superhero trio Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel and Monika Rambeau. You can see the film in German cinemas from November 8th, 2023.
