Sex and violence tend to drive away boredom. This may also apply to director Zack Snyder and Netflix’s sci-fi ambitions. Snyder’s sci-fi blockbuster Rebel Moon – Part 1: Child of Fire and Rebel Moon – Part 2: The Scarmaker are due to be re-released in a few days in a dirtier, more brutal form.

Netflix to show a completely new vision of a sci-fi war

The Rebel Moon saga revolves around Kora (Sofia Boutella), who wants to protect her peaceful farming planet from the ruthless Empire. When the Empire attacks her village with a cruel intervention force subjugated, the young woman visits the neighboring planets in search of help.

The first two Rebel Moon films were released on Netflix in December 2023 and April 2024, and several sequels are set to continue the sci-fi series in the future. However, the two films, which will be released on Netflix in a week, do not tell a new story. Rather, they are intended to represent Snyder’s original vision, as he revealed on X.

The first trailer alone already shows how much more blood and bare skin will be seen in the new films. The uncut versions of Child of Fire and The Scarmaker have even been given new titles and are now called Rebel Moon – Chapter 1: Chalice of Blood and Rebel Moon – Chapter 2: Curse of Forgiveness.

When will the new Rebel Moon versions come to Netflix?

The two new Rebel Moon versions will be available from 2 August 2024 will be shown on Netflix. In addition to Sofia Boutella, the cast includes Ed Skrein (Deadpool) and Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy).
