6 departments concerned watch out for falling temperatures

Météo France places 6 departments on orange alert for thunderstorms for the day of Tuesday September 12. The wave of storms comes after a drop in temperatures since Sunday September 10.

While France was hit by a new heatwave last week, it is now time for storms. Since the evening of Sunday September 10, a series of storms began. They arrived via the Atlantic and are now spreading to the central and eastern regions of the country from the beginning of the week. Météo France warns of “strong thunderstorms” accompanied by “heavy hail, heavy rain intensities as well as strong gusts of wind”. The intensity of these episodes should nevertheless decrease during the night of Monday to Tuesday September 12 and the storms will be evacuated towards the northeast.

The meteorological service places 6 departments on orange alert for thunderstorms for the day of Tuesday September 12: Gironde, Dordogne, Lot-et-Garonne, Lot, Tarn-et-Garonne and Gers. Landes, Pyrénées-Atlantiques and Hautes-Pyrénées move from orange status to yellow status, between Monday and Tuesday. This Tuesday, September 12, 73 departments and Andorra are placed on yellow alert. If storms affect a large part of France, temperatures are decreasing in the west.
