“Extends The Acolyte”is the subject of the petition, after the same words appeared as a hashtag several times in Twitter trends in the past few days. over 50,000 signatures come together. Whether that’s enough to get a second season out of Lucasfilm is questionable, but the sign is clear.

In comparison, a petition launched in 2019 calling for the sequels to be eradicated from the Star Wars canon only managed to get 6,000 signatures in five years. After just one week The Acolyte exceeds this value by far and thus goes against the narrative of being a universally hated Star Wars project.
The success of these petitions is relative. Series like Lucifer, Timeless and Sense8 would probably never have had a correct conclusion Veronica Mars and Blue Mountain State have used crowdfunding to get feature films off the ground. But often nothing happens.
