While a package of dishwasher tablets costs an average of between 5 and 12 euros, you are offered a recipe to make your own cleaning powder (just as effective as industrial products) for only 50 cents, and thus make Sacred savings. Doing the calculation is several tens of euros to save in a year!
And savings are not the only advantage you will withdraw from it. Did you know that dishwasher pads could be harmful according to their composition? Very often, they contain toxic chemicals that are not recommended such as phosphonates, surfactants, laundering agents, preservatives or even perfumes. In our recipe, there are only natural ingredients, without chemicals harmful to your health or the environment.
To make your cleaning powder for the dishwasher, it’s really simple. You will only need three ingredients easily found in any supermarket such as Leclerc, Carrefour or Lidl, for a truly derisory sum. And in addition, you can use it for other household chores. So you need:
- soda crystals;
- soda percarbonate (if you already have baking soda at home, you can replace the percarbonate with bicarbonate);
- citric acid.
Bring a glass jar or a box that closes tightly. It is important that your container is well airtight so that it does not take moisture. Then mix these three products in equal quantities and transfer the mixture to your jar. And that’s it! In just a few seconds you have an effective dishwasher cleaning powder. It will detach, wash, degrease and remove the bad odors from your dishes, while taking care of your health.
How to use it well? For each washing, pour a tablespoon of this homemade powder into the detergent compartment of your dishwasher. For an optimal result, add white vinegar like rinsing liquid to the compartment provided for this purpose.
Here are some additional tips for a top dishwasher:
- Add a few drops of essential oil (lemon or eucalyptus) to the mixture for a pleasant perfume.
- Regularly clean your dishwasher filters to maintain optimal efficiency.
- In case of very lime water, add a little more citric acid to compensate.
- Keep the powder in a dry place to prevent it from forming lumps.
