Last minute The world stood up after Putins decision in

Following the success of Witcher and Arcane, a whole slew of TV series based on video games have been announced. We summarize for you what is known about it.

Video game adaptations have often turned out to be total flops in the past. Movies and series about big and popular IPs like Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter or Assassin’s Creed received scathing reviews from both critics and fans of the games.

In recent years, however, there seems to have been a change. Detective Pikachu, Werewolves Within, and Sonic all managed to earn good reviews on the RottenTomatoes review site for the first time.

In terms of TV series, Witcher and Halo have provided positive surprises and paved the way for more series. Here are 5 games and game series that have their own TV series announced.

  • Offerer: Netflix
  • release: July 14th
  • This is already known: The series focuses on the Umbrella Corporation and takes place in two time planes: in 2022 and 14 years later in 2036. The action follows the two sisters Jade and Billie Wesker, who are the daughters of the scientist Albert Wesker.

In 2022, they move to New Raccoon City near where their father works. There they first have to get used to the new school and their new life. In 2036, however, the zombie apocalypse has already broken out and Jade is desperately trying to get information about the zombies while she is looking for her sister.

Lance Riddick, known to Destiny fans as Commander Zavala, plays Albert Wesker in the series.

    The Last of Us

  • Offerer: HBO
  • release: 2023
  • This is already known: The TV series is based on the events of the first The Last of Us game, following the characters Joel and Ellie. After the outbreak of a terrible virus, large parts of the American population have mutated into monsters and civilization has completely collapsed.

Joel and Ellie are trying to survive in this post-apocalyptic world where they not only have to contend with mutated mushroom monsters, but also with other humans turned cannibals.

Game of Thrones stars Pedro Pascal (Oberyn Martell) and Bella Ramsey (Lyanna Mormont) will star in the series.

    Assassin’s Creed

  • Offerer: Neflix
  • release: unknown
  • This is known so far: In fact, the gaming franchise will not get one, but several series. One of these will be live action and two more will be animated. An entire “Assassin’s Creed” universe is to be built.

So far, however, nothing is known about the setting of this series, although AC, as is well known, offers a very large selection after more than a dozen main games, which stretches over many eras.

What is known, however, is that the live-action series has got Jeb Stuart as a writer. Most of you will know him for his work on the original Die Hard film. That gives hope.

  • Offerer: Amazon Prime Video
  • release: unknown
  • This is known so far: Again, little is known about what the series will be about. Thanks to the games, the setting is at least fixed. Of course, the nuclear post-apocalypse cannot be missing from Fallout.

More is known about the two main characters, played by Ella Purnell (Star Trek: Prodigy) and Walton Goggins (Tomb Raider 2018). While Goggin’s character is a ghoul who’s been terribly mutilated by the radiation, Purnell’s character is “cheerful and upbeat,” which in part comes across as spooky.

Jonathan Nolan, the creator of Westworld, is the series’ producer. The showrunners are Geneva Robertson-Dworet, known for her work on Tomb Raider (2018), among others, and Graham Wagner, who previously worked on The Office and Portlandia.

    Cyberpunk 2077

  • Offerer: Netflix
  • release: 2022
  • This is known so far: The story of the animated TV series will revolve around a teenager who struggles to survive on the streets of Night City every day. He makes his living as a criminal mercenary called Edgerunner.

The series will initially contain 10 episodes and will be produced by Studio Trigger, which boasts big names like Hiroyuki Imaishi, Masahiko Otsuka and Hiromi Wakabayashi. They all previously worked on well-known and popular animes Kill la Kill, Promare and Gurren Lagann.

More information about the series will be available soon. Netflix announced a reveal for June 8th, where fans will most likely see the first trailer.

These video game series are also coming: Of course, the list of video game adaptations doesn’t end there. After the success of Witcher and Arcane, the following games are also getting their own TV series:

  • Splinter Cell
  • Sonic – Knuckles spin off
  • Tomb raider anime
  • twisted metal
  • God of War
  • It Takes Two and more.
  • Which ones are you looking forward to? Which of these would you rather see as live action and which as animation? Tell us in the comments.
