We are all more or less prone to fatigue. To avoid feeling flat during the day, discover the advice validated by scientists from Harvard Medical School.
In a survey by the French Association of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, 58% of French people said they had felt persistent fatigue in the last 12 months. Some people even feel tired all the time. To feel more toned every day, scientists from Harvard Medical School reveal 5 useful tips.
Do sports regularly
Regular physical activity helps improve sleep. Indeed, many tired people suffer from sleep disorders. To feel the effects of fatigue less, it is therefore advisable to play sports. For example, you can walk 30 minutes a day and practice more intense physical activity twice a week.
Adopt a balanced diet
The contents of your plate can have many impacts, particularly on fatigue. Harvard researchers therefore recommend a diet mainly composed of foods with a low glycemic index in order to avoid the famous “fatigue peak” due to the consumption of foods with a high GI. Be aware that foods low in vitamins and nutrients promote fatigue. On the contrary, it is better to focus on a diet rich in nutrients to be healthy: fruits and vegetables, fish, eggs, starchy foods, oilseeds, dairy products and “superfoods” such as spirulina, chia seeds, turmeric or even pomegranate.
Avoid alcoholic drinks
“One of the best defenses against mid-afternoon fatigue is to avoid drinking alcohol at lunchtime.” say Harvard researchers. We skip our glass of wine or beer and replace it with a large glass of water to stay in shape all day long.
Beware of dehydration
We don’t necessarily think about it but know that one of the symptoms of dehydration is fatigue. If you don’t drink enough water during the day, it is normal to feel low. To avoid nosedive, follow the official recommendations: 1.5L of water per day.
Learn to better manage your stress
Stress causes significant mental fatigue. So, to learn how to manage it better, Harvard experts recommend practicing – as desired – yoga, tai chi, meditation or even cardiac coherence. These relaxation methods are very effective for learning to regulate your emotions and thus avoid fatigue from the start of the week!
