5 strong cards that deserve to be in the top 100 in Ultimate Team

In FC 25 there will be new cards that will join the ranks of the best 100 players in Ultimate Team. We have taken a look at 5 candidates and will tell you why they deserve a place among the top players.

What is the top 100? The Top 100 describes the 100 best gold cards in Ultimate Team from EA FC. These cards are particularly sought after at the start of FC 25 because there will only be a few special cards with a similarly high rating.

In the past, the top 100 included players who had a rating of at least 86. If you pull one of these top players out of a pack, he will appear on your screens in a walkout animation.

In addition to many well-known walkouts, new cards are added every year that have made it into the top 100.

Predictions: 5 cards that will be new to the top 100 in FC 25

What criteria did we use for our predictions? For our predictions, we primarily looked at players from FC 24 with an 85 rating and used their performance data from the 23/24 season.

We use the numbers and assessments from the Sofascore database to evaluate real performances. This not only shows goals and assists, but also more detailed, position-specific data such as successful passes, duels won, etc.

Each player is given a rating from 0 to 10 after each match day. The individual grades result in average ratings for each player for the entire season.

Grimaldo-Grimaldo (84 → 86) – Bayer Leverkusen

We’ll start with a little hot take. Although the Spaniard only had an overall rating of 84 in FC 24, he was one of the best in the world in his position as left-back in the 23/24 season. He played a part in Leverkusen forming the best defense in the Bundesliga (only 24 goals conceded) and even kept a clean sheet in 16 games.

On the left wing, Grimaldo scored 10 goals and provided 13 assists in 33 league games. This meant that he was a constant source of trouble for the opposing team in attack. His set pieces and long-range shots in particular are feared.

In the Bundesliga, he is in second place among all players with an average of 7.75 out of 10 possible points. Only Harry Kane has a slightly better average with 7.76.

Grimaldo played a more than impressive debut season for Bayer Leverkusen. We can therefore well imagine that he could make the jump to 86. His statistics would at least suggest this.

Bastion (85 → 86) – Inter Milan

Inter Milan played an outstanding season and became champions of Serie A with a lead of almost 20 points. One of the building blocks for this success was Bastoni.

The Italian combines the characteristics of a classic central defender with those of a modern defender. That means he excels in defence with his tackling ability and good positioning, but he also knows how to boost his team’s attacking play with clever passes and runs.

As a defender, he managed to create the most big chances (4) for a team in a single game. To have a comparison value, this is followed almost exclusively by offensive players with a maximum of 3 chances created in a game.

As part of Inter’s three-man defense, he helped the champions form the strongest defense in the league, conceding just 22 goals. The Italians even kept a clean sheet in 21 games.

The 25-year-old ranks 7th in the list of the best average players in Serie A, making him the best central defender in the top 10. Bastoni is therefore a hot contender for an 86 card.

Foden (85→87) – Manchester City

The Englishman was by no means an unknown quantity anymore, but in the 23/24 season Foden really showed what he was capable of. The skilled technician really turned it on in the second half of the season in particular and proved his goal threat countless times.

Foden’s expected goals (10.34) were around 9 goals higher than his average, coming in at 19. This is mainly because he scored 6 of his goals outside the box, where expected goals are relatively low. His long-range shots are a powerful tool for breaking down deep-lying opponents.

The lively Englishman is also considered to be extremely confident on the ball. In 1v1 situations, it is incredibly difficult to separate him from the ball. Although he obviously does not win all direct duels, he wins just over half of his duels per game (51%), which is a decent figure for an offensive player. He also loses the ball very little and usually makes the right decisions.

On Sofascore, Foden achieved fantastic ratings of 9.8, 9.9 and even a 10. With an average rating of 7.79, he ranks second in the list of all Premier League players behind teammate Rodri. That could even be enough for an 87 in the new EA FC, but should definitely mean an 86 in FC 25.

Calhanoglu (85→86) – Inter Milan

The captain of the Turkish national team played perhaps the best season of his career. With 13 goals and an expected goal percentage of 10.15, he has never been more dangerous in Serie A.

Çalhanoğlu is the linchpin at Inter. He is particularly known for his strong passing game, which he can execute with equal precision using both his left and right foot. 92% of passes completed per game underline this ability.

What the midfield engine has also learned in recent years is his strength in duels. He wins over half of his duels (58%), making him an important factor in defence.

Çalhanoğlu achieved the best average rating of all players in Serie A with a score of 7.68, which should have earned him a place among the top 100 players in FC 25.

Wirtz (85→86) – Bayer Leverkusen

In his first full season after tearing his cruciate ligament, Wirtz exploded. 22 goal contributions in 26 starting eleven matches sounds incredible.

The German can be compared to Phil Foden from our list. Wirtz is even more courageous in his dribbling and can boast more successful dribbles per game (2.5 per game). He also often succeeds in setting up his teammates with precise passes. He can therefore boast many important passes in a game (top value: 10 passes).

Wirtz is only 21 years old and still has a long career ahead of him. He can probably improve his goals and assists. He has the ability to do so without a doubt.

His strong season should also be reflected in his rating for FC 25. Unlike Foden, we are expecting “only” a +1 upgrade to an 86. This would leave EA the back door open to gradually rate Wirtz higher if he performs even better in the coming years. But it should be enough to make the top 100.
