    Does your skin feel tight, itchy and dry during the summer? Here is a little survival guide, special for sensitive skin!

    Tightness, redness, tingling and even itching: when the warm weather arrives, sensitive skin can suffer. Unless you adopt the right actions to soothe, hydrate and protect it.

    In summer, the hydrolipidic film is damaged

    Exposure to the sun, heat and pollen are responsible for many common skin reactions in summer, such as:

    • Redness;
    • Itches ;
    • Or even irritations, in people with sensitive skin.

    In fact, it is essential for anyone with compromised skin to take extra precautions during the warmer months.

    “In sensitive skin, the skin barrier – or hydrolipidic film (essentially composed of water and lipids) – is altered and no longer plays its protective role. Thus, during external attacks, the skin will react with inflammatory reactions resulting in feelings of discomfort; we also speak of reactive skin”explains Nathalie Rouziq, Dermatological Care Klorane Medical Manager.

    So, how can you combine sensitive skin without rhyming with stress and discomfort? Certain gentle products, specially formulated for reactive skin, such as a facial scrub for sensitive skin and a gentle body scrub, should be adopted. Same thing for good gestures.

    Reactive skin: the 5 reflexes to have in summer

    To soothe the skin while strengthening its defenses, it is recommended:

    • Not to expose yourself between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m.;
    • Apply a sunscreen for sensitive skin with a high SPF50+ protection factor, at least 15 minutes before exposure. To be renewed every 2 hours;
    • Wear loose, ventilated clothing to avoid the irritating effect of sweat;
    • Wear a cap or hat with a wide brim to protect the sensitive skin on your face;
    • Soothe the skin after exposure with the application of after-sun for sensitive skin. In case of eczema in summer, relieve it with an emollient anti-itch balm.
