A new year has begun and with it the first season of fresh anime that is slowly starting. Please note that the assessment of the series is based primarily on the trailers, the first episode and – if available – on the source material. We will all find out together whether the series will continue to deliver what they already promise.
Solo leveling
Alternative names: I Level Up Alone
Streaming provider: Crunchyroll
Solo Leveling is one of the big anime that attracted attention at the end of last year. Because the advertising drum was being drummed up and the first trailers looked promising. However, Solo Leveling also has to deliver quite a bit, because the source material is extremely popular and was considered an insider tip for a long time. Fans are correspondingly concerned that the anime adaptation will not be able to maintain the charm of the original or will have to compromise on quality.
What is Solo Leveling about? 10 years have passed since the strange “Gate” appeared and connected the real world to a realm full of monsters and magic. In order to fight the monsters here, a select few are given superhuman abilities and, as hunters, make short work of these monsters.
Jin-Woo is considered the weakest hunter in the world, but he still fights against the monsters in order to be able to pay for his mother’s medical care. However, that changes one day when he is the only survivor and suddenly sees a new “training” in his quest log…
Metallic blush
Alternative names: /
Streaming provider: Crunchyroll
Metallic Rouge has attracted attention primarily because it marks Studio Bones’ 25th anniversary production. These are the creators behind legendary series like Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood or My Hero Academia. Metallic Rouge is an “original anime”, i.e. without a manga or light novel template. Of course, this gives the creators significantly more freedom, while at the same time they have to do without existing fans of an established franchise.
What is metallic blush about? In the future, humans coexist with androids, the so-called “Neans.” But as is often the case, not everything is harmonious. Metallic Rouge follows Redstar, an android tasked with killing the Immortal Nine – a terrorist network that threatens to upend human and Nean society. Under the project name “Metal Rouge”, Redstar and her human partner Naomi travel to Mars to find clues about the whereabouts of the terrorist organization and to put an end to their machinations.
