The US Geological Survey (USGS) announced that the epicenter of the 5-magnitude earthquake that occurred at 15.50 local time was 19 kilometers southwest of Mazar-i Sharif, the central district of the province.
The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers underground.

The earthquake was felt in the northern provinces of Afghanistan and neighboring countries Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
It was announced that 2,500 people lost their lives as a result of the earthquakes with magnitudes of 5 to 6.5 that occurred in the Herat province in northwestern Afghanistan in October last year. (AA)
