5 important tips for preparing for the event

In a few days, the global GO Fest 2023 will start in Pokémon GO. We at MeinMMO will give you 5 important tips on how to best prepare for the event so that you can make the most of it.

Which event is it about? One of the biggest events of the year in Pokémon GO is the annual GO Fest. After it has already started locally with its live events in London, Osaka and New York, you can look forward to special spawns and bonuses all over the world this coming weekend.

But before the huge event starts, you should make one or two preparations to get the most out of the GO Fest. Below we have summarized 5 important tips for you.

When is the GO Fest? Pokémon GO Fest 2023 runs from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on the weekend of August 26 and 27.

1. Makes space for important items

What do you have to make room for? In order to have enough items in your stash that you really need during the GO Fest, you should make room in your item bag. Get rid of items that you don’t need that often anyway and keep items that can be useful to you at the event.

Alternatively, you can expand your item bag accordingly. Niantic even recently increased the storage limit for it.

Which items do you need?

In order to get the most out of all the content during the event, be sure to have the following:

Balls: Probably the most important thing during the GO Fest are enough balls. If you want to play actively on both days, we recommend that you have at least 1,000 balls in stock so that you don’t have to keep getting supplies. It is best to use hyper balls directly, because these keep the monsters in the ball better.

Pokeball, Superball and Hyperball

Lure modules: In order to lure the monsters from the respective habitats, appropriate lure modules are available. These last for one hour each during the event. So if you want to play all day, you should have at least 8 modules ready per day. If you want to equip several PokéStops with it, then correspondingly more.

Smoke: In addition to lure modules, the smoke is also particularly important during the GO Fest. Especially trainers who have a ticket can attract the special spawns in this way. But it also offers a good opportunity for trainers without a ticket to get more copies. The smoke will also be active for an hour again, which is why you need 8 pieces per day.

Berry: If you want to collect additional candies when catching or tame monsters that are difficult to catch, then the corresponding berries are a good idea. Mainly relies on pineapple berries, silver pineapple berries and golden raspberries.

Raid Passes: During the two-day event, you can encounter a lot of cool and, above all, strong monsters in the raids. Primal Pokémon are returning to raids, and Mega Rayquaza is making its global in-game debut. If you don’t want to miss these monsters, you should have enough raid passes ready.

Trainers with a ticket will receive 9 additional raid passes when rotating the arena. If that’s not enough for you or if you don’t have a ticket, you should stock up on long-distance raid passes and premium battle passes. During the event, you can also take part in up to 20 remote raids per day.

Revives & Potions: In order to be able to use your best attackers optimally again after the fight, you should also have some revives and potions ready.

2. Make room in your Pokémon Storage

Why is this important? In addition to a lot of items that you will need on these two days, you will also need a lot of space for your monsters. After all, you want to catch as much as possible during the event. So create the appropriate space in your storage and sort out vigorously.

For the first few hours you should ideally have 500 free places, then you won’t have to send them away so quickly during the event.

How to sort quickly? In order to create space as quickly as possible, we recommend the tag and filter functions in the game. For example, entering 0*,1*,2* will show you all monsters that have a rating of 2 stars or worse. During the event, you can also add Age0 to this input to only see monsters you’ve caught in the last 24 hours.

So you can sort Pokémon quickly

3. Plan a route

What is this good for? So that you can catch as many monsters as possible and at the same time run past enough PokéStops and arenas, it is best to plan a fixed route before the event. This is especially useful because you attract more monsters through movement. The stops and arenas also give you optimal access to items and raids.

Here, for example, a larger park offers itself, where you can do your laps. It is best to look for a place that you are already familiar with. This way you don’t lose valuable time to get your bearings.

4. Meet up for raids

That’s why it makes sense: If you not only want to catch Pokémon in the wild, but also want one or a strong specimen from the raid, you should look for like-minded people. It is therefore best to make an appointment with friends in advance for the appropriate raids and combine them with your planned route. Also think about which raid bosses are particularly interesting for you and which ones you don’t necessarily need.

How to find like-minded people: If you don’t have a local community, you can use the Campfire app to communicate with other trainers in your area. There you can not only write to each other privately or in groups or send a smoke signal if you want to do raids, but also host your raid for other players in the distance.

5. Think about technology and food

What do you need that for? If you want to play all day, you should also make sure you have the right technical equipment and appropriate food. So be sure to take enough drinks and something to eat with you so that you don’t have to buy something on the way. Also pay attention to your local weather conditions. So when it’s hot, don’t just think about enough drinks, but also sun protection.

In order to be able to charge your battery on the go, you should also think of a power bank and a suitable charging cable. Also, don’t forget to charge your smartphone the night before so you can start the event with a full battery.
