No other series has delivered more reliable spy action entertainment for so many decades than the James Bond franchise. You can really watch the individual films over and over again and so it’s a good thing On Thursday evening there were two really successful Roger Moore bonds run on television.
Two Bond films provide classic spy action entertainment on TV
Let’s start with James Bond 007 – On a deadly mission. With Roger Moore in the agent role, the franchise was brought back down to earth after the over-the-top sci-fi Bond Moonraker. In this part of the series, 007 has to secure the cargo of a sunken British spy ship. Above all, the guided missile computer should not fall into the hands of the enemy Russians.

With In Deadly Mission you get franchise entertainment at its classic best. Exotic locations, lots of action and casual entertainment merge into the usual Bond cocktail – although the excessive gadgets are kept within limits and there is more emphasis on grounded battles again.
James Bond 007 – Octopussy, which runs directly afterwards, is similar. This time, Moore as Bond pursues the villain Kamal Khan (Louis Jourdan), who is responsible for the murder of Agent 009 (Andy Bradford). He is also planning a rocket attack on an American air force base with the Soviet General Orlov (Steven Berkoff). So 007 has to do nothing less than prevent the outbreak of World War III.
Octopussy also proves to be an absolutely successful Bond blockbuster, in which all the successful elements that have been built up over the years are brilliantly brought together.
When will the two Bond films be on TV?
VOX broadcasts James Bond 007 – On a deadly mission January 23, 2025 from 8:15 p.m out of. This will be followed by Octopussy at 10:55 p.m. With commercial breaks, the 007 marathon lasts until 1:30 a.m. Alternatively, you can rent or buy both bond parts from providers such as Amazon Prime.
