Around the age of three, sometimes before, children are able to learn colors. To help them, there are different tips. Here are five to put into practice, for fun activities to do with your child!

How to teach your child to recognize colors? If this question concerns you, know that this learning can take place through play. And on social networks, you will find many tips for putting creativity into this memorization work. Here are five to implement now!

    Paint, markers or colored pencils

Obviously, painting is the most classic way to teach your child about different colors. In addition to being a fun activity, painting allows the child to learn each color, but also to mix shades and see, for example, that blue combined with yellow will produce green. Colored pencils and markers can also be used by children for a coloring session.

    Food colorings

More natural, food colorings can be added to salt dough, for example, so that your child can associate the color with an object. In the same way as for painting, the different pieces of salt dough can be mixed. This way, your child will better visualize the result of a color association.

    Colored plastic

Plastic sheets, both colored and transparent, are also a very practical medium for helping your little one understand the concept of color. These sheets can be used in front of a light source, but also superimposed, to show your child the result of a mixture. You can also ask him what colors to combine to create a new one (for example: blue and red will make purple).

    Colorful kitchen towels

In the same spirit as painting on a white sheet, coloring (or markers) on white paper towels will amaze your child. To do this, simply color the paper and spray water on it: the colors will spread out and mix, which is sure to amaze your little one! You can also mix primary colors, here again, so that your child sees the new color appear before his eyes, as if by magic.

    Colored objects to sort

Finally, for the little ones, sorting games are the simplest way to approach colors. All you need to do is bring together a series of identical objects but in different colors as well as bins with corresponding colors. All you have to do is scatter them in front of him and ask him to classify the small objects in the corresponding box. To help him, you can start putting an object in the box of the right color. Once he understands how this little game works, he will be delighted to sort the objects. And once he masters this, name the colors for him, so that he memorizes them, repeating them after you!
