Darren Aronofsky released Black Swan in 2010. The psychological thriller dealt with ballet and the slow self-destruction of dancer Nina Sayers, portrayed in the film by Natalie Portman. There are hallucinations and unreal scenes with horror elements.

The film is very reminiscent of Satoshi Kon’s masterpiece Perfect Blue. Mima is a former idol who now wants to work as an actress. In the film, however, she is stalked by an obsessed fan, but the real horror happens in her head, with hallucinations and an old self.

Both films are about success, pressure and the destruction of one’s self that comes with it.
