5 Extremely Rare Pokémon We Haven’t Seen in Years

In Pokémon GO, trainers want to catch cool Pokémon. But some special and rare monsters have been gone for quite some time now.

What is this list? In Pokémon GO you have the opportunity to catch a lot of different monsters. Finally, the new season “Hidden Gems” brings with it a variety of Pokémon, raid bosses can be fought, research can be solved.

However, the complete field of Pokémon is never available in Pokémon GO, so some monsters may have been missed. But don’t worry: Most cool monsters usually come back at some point.

However, there are also some special Pokémon that you haven’t seen for a very long time since they last appeared – and some of them are unsure whether they will ever return.

We take a closer look at some of them here.

Mewtwo with armor

Armor Mewtwo

The armored Mewtwo was only available in Pokémon GO for the 2019 Pokémon Movie and Pokémon Day, but that was a long time ago. It last appeared in February 2020, since then the armored Mewtwo variant has disappeared.

And that’s a shame, because the monster not only has an iconic design, but it’s also a good candidate for the PvP battle league. In raids, however, its regular version is more useful – and at least it shows up every now and then.

The clone Pokémon

The clone variants of Blastoise, Charizard, and Bisaflor

Anyone who saw the original Pokémon movie or the new 2019 version will remember the clone Pokémon, which go very well with Armor Mewtwo. The clone variants of Charizard, Blastoise and Bisaflor stand out due to their special patterns and are real collector’s favorites in Pokémon GO.

Because: These monsters were also last available in Pokémon GO in 2020, when they appeared in an event full of nostalgia. But since then, the rare variants are no longer available.

Zarude

Zarude

Let’s stay with Pokémon that ended up in the game on the occasion of films: The mysterious dark monkey Pokémon Zarude was available in a special research in autumn 2021. So if you only started within the last year and a half, you haven’t had the opportunity to catch Zarude.

Zarude is one of the best plant attackers in Pokémon GO. Accordingly, we can only hope that the jungle monster may return.

Pikachu with surfers

There are tons of special event variants of Pikachu in Pokémon GO. Some were seen more often, others less. A particularly popular collector’s item was the Pikachu with surfer, which is reminiscent of the yellow edition. This particular variant originally appeared for his 2018 Community Day. Then it was available again in 2019 at the big December Community Day and around the Kanto Tour 2021, but has since disappeared.

Of course, Pikachu with Surfer is not an extremely strong Pokémon, but it is very popular with collectors. Whether it will return again is open – but it would be conceivable, for example, to have a Community Day Classic or something similar, like our next candidate.

Schiggy with the sunglasses

The Squirtle Pack or “Squirtle Squad” still has a place in the hearts of longtime Pokémon fans. The Sunglasses Squirtle was also available to catch in Pokémon GO, originally for its own Community Day 2018.

Then it reappeared in 2021 as an event Pokémon as part of an Ed Sheeran concert in Pokémon GO. However, if you missed it or haven’t played it yet, you haven’t been able to catch it yet.

The special feature: It is already clear here when it will come back. Namely for our own Community Day Classic in July 2023. And that gives hope that maybe the other monsters will appear again.

In addition to the monsters mentioned here, there are others that have only rarely been seen. The Apex version of Lugia and Ho-Oh for example, or of course rare monsters like Mew. Which Pokemon do you miss the most? Did you miss any? Tell us in the comments!
