5 essential mods every Starfield player should use

In Starfield you can use dozens of mods to customize it to your liking or even expand it with content. However, we’ll show you 5 mods here that don’t bring any major changes, but make the game much better overall.

Which mods are these? Over 1,000 Startfield mods were released this week alone. However, the ones mentioned here primarily focus on improving the feel of the game. No major adjustments are made or game content is skipped, but rather small feel-good elements are added:

  • Instant Scan – All flora and fauna are found immediately on the first scan.
  • StarUI Inventory – Makes the inventory clearer and lets you sort it according to various aspects such as weight or rarity.
  • Craftable Ammo and Utilities – This mod makes ammo, digipicks and medpacks craftable.
  • Simple Faster Walk – Increases the walking speed of NPCs that you follow or that are supposed to follow you.
  • Starfield FOV – Expands the field of view in the game.
  • Do the mods work on all platforms? Basically, the mods only work on the PC. Official mod support for the Xbox won’t come until next year. Things are a little different with the cheats that you can transfer from the PC to the console.

How do you install the mods? How exactly the installation works is explained on the respective mod page. We will introduce them to you in more detail below.

    Instant scan

What can the mod do? Those of you who want to fully map Starfield’s universe will have to do a lot of scanning, as the game has over a thousand planets and moons. This task is made more difficult by the fact that flora and fauna usually have to be scanned multiple times to fully capture a planet or moon.

Thanks to JustAnOrdinaryGuy’s Instant Scan mod, all you need to do is carry out a scan to discover everything.

    StarUI Inventory

What can the mod do? The inventory in Starfield is considered rather complicated and confusing. The StarUI Inventory mod by m8r98a4f2 changes your inventory so that it is displayed in a clear list.

There you can also sort the items by type, weight or value. For example, healing potions or other important items can be found much more quickly. There are also adjustments to the weapons, such as the ability to sort by available ammunition or burst damage.

You can also directly buy or sell entire stacks of items and make some optional adjustments by pressing the SHIFT key.

    Craftable Ammo and Utilities

What can the mod do? Crafting isn’t necessarily Starfield’s strong point, partly because there are obvious things that can’t be crafted. This is where the Craftable Ammo and Ultilities mod from pitufocabeza can help.

This mod makes it possible to create ammunition, digipicks and medpacks, which also saves you the annoying search for these contents in the chests.

    Simple Faster Walk

What can the mod do? In almost every game, NPCs who move too slowly are annoying. Regardless of whether you are supposed to follow them or they are supposed to follow you, the computer-controlled creatures always move slower than you do.

The Simple Faster Walk mod from somberX can help here. It ensures that the movement speed of NPCs is increased by 30% or even 50%.

    Starfield FOV

What can the mod do? The field of view in most modern games can be adjusted to suit your needs. This is not possible in Starfield.

That’s why user hellstorm102 developed the Starfield FOV mod. It works in both first and third person views.

Which mods do you like to use in Starfield? Or do you forego it completely?
