It is not only about the fate of individual heroes, but also often about entire nations or large cities that are destroyed. Dalaran

For a long time, Dalaran was a city of the Allianz in which the magicians of the Hochlfen and people lived. Even if the magicians often interfered only slightly into the conflicts of the kingdoms, they kept sending emissions to the various kings or appearing when there were demonic or mysterious occurrences.

Because the magicians of Dalaran knew well with demonic magic and the protection of it, it was also a declared goal of the burning legion to switch off the magicians as quickly as possible.

One of the most impressive Cinematics of Warcraft III shows exactly that. The Demonic Archimonde uses strong magic to recreate the city of Dalaran from sand – and then to bring it into collapse like a sand castle. With the small detail that the right city was also destroyed.

It took many years in which the remaining Kirin Tor Dalaran sealed under a dome and rebuilt the city – then to make them a “flying city” with “Wrath of the Lich King” and to ship them to Nordend. However, Xal’Athath had mixed under the archmage and weakened the city’s defense, which was then attacked by Nerubern.

Although many people could be evacuated, countless residents of Dalarans died during the attack.

The city was ultimately completely destroyed when Xal’Athath Dalaran destroyed the heart of darkness. Fragments of the city rained down on Khaz Algar and only a few magicians could escape death. The Kirin Tor did not completely wipe out, but until the remaining magicians have a real home again, a lot of time should pass.
