A 5.9 magnitude earthquake was reported off the coast of Indonesia.
The US Geological Survey (USGS) announced that the 5.9 magnitude earthquake was located 170 kilometers west-southwest of the city of Pariaman in West Sumatra at a depth of 18 kilometers.
According to eyewitnesses, at the time of the earthquake, people in the region panicked and left their homes for fear of tsunami and rushed to higher areas.
Local residents were later informed by the relevant authorities that there was no tsunami threat.
Meanwhile, Indonesia Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Institute announced the magnitude of the earthquake as 6.4.
No loss of life or damage was reported after the earthquake.
