The earthquake was felt in many provinces of Afghanistan, primarily in Kabul, as well as in Pakistan, Tajikistan and India. No information about the damage has been shared yet from Taliban officials.

In the 5.9 magnitude earthquake that struck the eastern provinces of Afghanistan on June 22, 2022, nearly 1200 people lost their lives.

Loss of life in earthquakes can be high due to the lack of infrastructure in the country, especially in rural areas, and the construction of houses from clay. (AA)
