The Australians improved the world record in the 4x200m freestyle at the Commonwealth Games on Sunday in Birmingham, where South African Chad Le Clos entered the history of this quadrennial meeting with his 18th medal. Madison Wilson, Kiah Melverton, Mollie O’Callaghan and Ariarne Titmus, double Olympic champion in Tokyo in the 200 and 400 m freestyle, won the title with a time of 7 min 39 sec 29. They erased the previous world record set by China in 7 min 40 sec 33 at the last Tokyo Olympics. Behind Australia, Canada took the silver medal and England the bronze.
