Groups have formed in Paris and in the provinces to express their anger. A new day of mobilization is planned for March 23 and local rallies will be held this weekend.

It could only end badly. The forced passage of the pension reform triggered by the 49.3, this Thursday, March 16, 2023, has provoked the anger of the French, opposed in their great majority, to this text badly conceived, poorly put together, poorly explained by the executive.

Shortly after the announcement of the 49.3 by the Prime Minister, spontaneous groups formed around the National Assembly and the Place de la Concorde in Paris. But also in several large cities in France including Marseille, Lyon, Lille, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Montpellier, Dijon, Nancy, etc..
At the end of the afternoon, clashes took place between the demonstrators and, often, the black-blocks, and the police. Fires were set in the streets adjacent to the Place de la Concorde: cars, scooters, garbage cans…
The police dispersed the demonstrators with tear gas and violent charges. But new groups formed a little further, in the posh districts of Paris where barricades were erected and set on fire. A real insurrection. More than 120 people were arrested.
In Dijon, demonstrators burned mannequins in the effigy of Macron and several ministers: Olivier Véran, Elisabeth Borne, Olivier Dussopt.

Ninth day of action Thursday, March 23

The trade union organizations gathered in the intersyndicale, which have been organizing strikes and demonstrations for several weeks, have decided on a ninth day of action on March 23. It is likely that the movement will be well attended.
But by then, in the Assembly, the motions of censure tabled by various groups of deputies could have toppled the Borne government. The next few days are likely to be very lively.
