August 4, 1982 marks the end of repressive legislation against homosexuals in France. Indeed, just 40 years ago a law repealed a discrimination introduced into the penal code by the Vichy regime during the Second World War which set the age of consent at 15 for heterosexual relations, and 21 for homosexual relationships.
