About 40 people were rescued from a migrant boat off Cape Verde on Tuesday. Several dead were on board, but the information about how many are different – a local mortuary claims to have received seven bodies.
Local media reports that the boat left Senegal a month ago. The vessel was spotted on Monday by a Spanish fishing boat which alerted Cape Verdean authorities, police said.
The migrants came from Senegal, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau and Sierra Leone.
