What are vtubers? Vtuber is an abbreviation for Virtual YouTuber”. These content creators, who hide behind virtual avatars, have gained a large following on platforms like YouTube and Twitch in recent years.

Who is behind vSmile? The origin of vSmile, a remarkable charity event uniting the Virtual YouTuber community since 2021, dates back to an inspirational idea from Twitch streamer Lia’del Yuli.

As a result of the devastating floods in Germany in the year in question, Lia initially decided to organize a charity live stream alone for the benefit of the flood victims. She presented her idea to the community and received a great response. In a very short time, so many people came forward offering their support that she was literally overwhelmed.

Among those who spontaneously decided to join this commendable initiative were Vtuber artists Kiyichu, Ako Yagami and Ms. Mauzenberger.

Ms. Mauzenberger recalls those early days and says: “Like the complete idiots that we are, we proposed to bring all the supporters together and make a big event out of it.”

Coming up with a name proved to be a challenge, but in the end they chose “vSmile” because it sounds like “We Smile” – a message that says that no matter what, they will smile for people.

What makes this event particularly impressive is the fact that the organizers and participants do not receive any financial compensation whatsoever. They volunteer and volunteer for this good cause.

Their shared commitment is a positive example of the power of the online community and their willingness to do good.

Numerous Vtubers take part

How did the first charity event go? They only had about a week to set up the entire event in the first year. Despite this tight deadline, around 40 Vtubers joined the initiative to perform in this unique stream marathon.

The response from viewers and supporters was overwhelming and in the end the organizers of vSmile were able to collect a remarkable sum of 10,795 euros for “Aktion Deutschland Hilft”. The money goes to those affected by the flood disaster.

In light of this impressive success, they unanimously decided to make these donation streams a permanent tradition. So they want to continue their mission to spread help and hope in difficult times.

What happened next with vSmile? In the second year, 2022, vSmile was once again able to record great success. Over 70 Vtubers performed together and dedicated the event to cancer research.

The goal of collecting 7,500 euros was more than exceeded, as a total of 9,160 euros was raised.

The stream marathon ended with a moving moment when all four organizers tearfully confirmed the next event. These tears weren’t just tears of joy, however, as Ako Yagami shared that unfortunately it would be her last vSmile for her as the organizer. Despite this, she stated that she remains committed to supporting the event to the best of her ability.

What is the fundraising for this year? vSmile’s commitment to charitable causes is entering the next round this year. On September 9th and 10th, the stream marathon will take place again with over 40 Vtubers to collect donations for environmental protection.

Organizer Lia emphasizes the seriousness of this concern, as environmental issues affect everyone, regardless of their background.

Therefore, vSmile not only wants to offer financial support, but also want to help raise awareness of this important issue and use the reach of the Vtuber community to initiate positive changes.
