4 months after the release of Diablo 4, fans are still wondering why they weren’t allowed to help Lilith

The demon Lilith is jointly responsible for the creation of Sanctuary and is the biggest antagonist in Diablo 4. Four months after the release, some players are asking themselves why they couldn’t actually side with the demon.

Who is Lilith? Lilith is the daughter of Mephisto, the lord of hatred and one of the three Great Evils. Lilith has many names and titles – including Daughter of Hate. Together with the archangel Inarius she created Sanctuary.

She is the “mother” of all people and therefore also the “mother” of all the characters that we have played since Diablo 1. She once even saved us from being wiped out – but not out of charity. She is evil at heart.

On Reddit on September 19th, user Haelwin wrote that he was still wondering why players never had the opportunity to side with the demon. He is disappointed.

Why is the player disappointed? In his post on the Diablo 4 subreddit, Haelwin writes that he is very disappointed about having to kill Lilith. He turns to the other players, because his hope doesn’t seem to be completely gone yet:

4 months later I still wonder why we didn’t have the opportunity to take Lilith’s side.

The ending is very convincing from Lilith’s perspective, even if her actions are not good, her reasons are just, and I still don’t like that we just… killed her and I was sooo disappointed.

Do you think we still have a chance to see her again?

This is what other players say about it: A comment with over 300 upvotes comes from drunkpunk138: “I always find it strange how people look at the reasons rather than the consequences of Lilith’s trampling and think, ‘Yeah, she’s right, you know’.”

One user notes that one can conclude from this how easy it is to manipulate people. And with the supposedly good Inarius, there isn’t really a better option.

Bads-R-Mads comments: “In the end it becomes really clear that this was all just a power play for Lilith and she doesn’t give a damn about humanity. She wants to end the war as much as anyone else, and believes the way to get there is through the enslavement of humanity (or, more specifically, the Nephalem).”

salmonchaser writes in his comment, “that [Lilith] keeps convincing people to work with her, even though it’s clearly evil to do so. If we worked with her, we’d basically be like Neyrelle’s mother from Act 1.”

Some players believe that they saw her in the ending scene of Diablo 4 and assume that the Mother of Hate will return. Other players discuss the demon’s choice of clothing.

Demons and especially succubi are not exactly known for running around in shirts and dresses. That’s why a player wonders why Lilith even wears clothes:
