Rambo and Terminator are quite nice, but strictly speaking they only show off with a muscle-bound fighting machine. How about, to assemble a whole shock squad of action heroes and take him on a bloody, explosive trip through every country in the world? The result of this thinking is The Expendables and The Expendables 2, starring Sylvester Stallone and many of his genre peers from earlier days. Both films are on TV today. In the first The Expendables, Stallone and his friends liberate a small island from its dictatorship, in the second part they take bloody revenge for a murdered colleague. The details are not that important anyway. On the other hand, the crashing staged, weapon-ridden action is essential with all the explosions and gunfire, there is hardly any time to catch your breath leaves.

For part 1 and 2 of the series there are a whole series of action stars in front of the camera. They include Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Jet Li and Jean-Claude Van Damme. At least Sylvester Stallone wants to get out after The Expendables 4. The sequel will be released on September 21, 2023.

When are The Expendables 1 and 2 on TV?

The Expendables is running this Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 8:15 p.m. on Vox. The Expendables 2 follows at 10 p.m. Stallone is still directing the first film, while Simon West (Con Air) took over the role of part 2.
