4 hour sci fi marathon that boasts dystopian survival and false memories

For anyone who doesn’t want to watch the European Football Championship today, we have the ideal alternative: There’s a four-hour-long sci-fi marathon on TV that should keep you entertained. You can also switch off after The Hunger Games if you don’t like the new version of Total Recall.

Sci-Fi instead of EM: That’s what The Hunger Games is about

In a dystopian future, teenagers are thrown into a deadly battle for survival against other teenagers. Of 24 candidates, only one person may survive at the end. This nasty Battle Royale is really tough, but also fascinating in a perfidious way. The whole thing is based on an extremely successful young adult novel and has led to various sequels.

Alternative to football: This is the story of Total Recall with Colin Farrell and Kate Beckinsale

In a distant future, poor factory worker Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell) longs for a vacation. The company Rekall Incorporated offers to plant fake memories of good times in people’s brains. But things go wrong and suddenly Douglas Quaid is no longer so sure whether the memories are really his own or whether he might be a spy.

The Total Recall film shown here is unfortunately not the 1990s adaptation starring Arnold Schwarzenegger by Paul Verhoeven, but the 2012 remake. Despite the great Philip K. Dick original the newer version was not nearly as well received like the other film. Nevertheless, it is worth taking a look at what the differences are and sci-fi action is always good anyway.

TV or stream: When and where are The Hunger Games and Total Recall shown?

If you want to watch both films in a double pack, you have to on Kabel eins from 20:15 tune in. The Hunger Games runs until 11:05 p.m., then Total Recall continues. A repeat will follow the same night or on June 25th.

Otherwise you can also stream the films online. The Hunger Games, for example, is available as a subscription on Amazon Prime Video, and Total Recall is part of Netflix’s streaming flat rate. But you will also find what you are looking for on the conventional on-demand platforms.
