$380 Million Compensation for Harassment Victims Athletes

US Gymnastics, the US Gymnastics Federation, and the Olympic Committee agreed to pay a total of $380 million in compensation to 500 victims of sexual harassment, including women who were abused by former physiotherapist Larry Nassar.

More than 330 of the victims are female athletes and employees who have been directly harassed by Nassar. The plaintiffs included Olympic medalists for the USA Women’s Gymnastics team, Simone Biles, Aly Raisman and McKayla Maroney.

In accordance with the agreement reached between the parties, USA Gymnastics and the US Olympic Committee also agreed to take some abused people to their boards in order to be more active in preventing such harassment in the future. The Olympic Committee announced that it will allocate $5 million for the arrangements to be made to prevent harassment and grievances.

Larry Nassa, who harassed hundreds of female athletes, the doctor of the USA Gymnastics team, was sentenced to more than 300 years in prison by two separate courts as a result of the lawsuit in 2018.
