A 35-year-old man is charged with the attempted murder of two police officers in Huskvarna in January this year, the Prosecutor’s Office writes in a press release.
In connection with the operation, the man attacked the police with a sword.
– One of the police officers received life-threatening injuries when the sword entered the chest and lung, says senior prosecutor Emma Harrius.
The incident took place in January. When the police arrived at the address, the man jumped from his balcony and fled the scene with a sword in his hand.
The two officers then chased the man into a wooded area where the 35-year-old then attacked both officers with the sword. In connection with that, active fire was fired at the man and he was arrested. During the search, three knives were also found.

The other policeman’s hand was injured by the sword. According to the prosecutor, the evidence partly consists of witness statements from police officers who attended the scene and from the public. But also technical evidence in the form of DNA.
The 35-year-old, who denies the crime, is charged with attempted murder in two cases, aggravated violence against a civil servant and attempted aggravated violence against a civil servant, as well as a serious crime against the Knife Act.
